It's a truth universally acknowledged that meeting K-drama friends in real life is one of life's greatest pleasures. When said meeting happens while eating delicious Korean food, the pleasure is even more greatly enhanced. While cyber connections are wonderful and to be deeply cherished, there is something about actually meeting in real life that helps us realize that the deep bonds of common love of Korean entertainment hold true in real life as well and that we are not indeed completely crazy.
I am incredibly lucky to live in a city teeming with Korean drama watchers (and K-pop lovers), and I feel like there is also a disproportionately high number of Korean bloggers who live here as well. Slowly over the course of watching Korean drama, I've managed to meet many fellow lovers of Korean entertainment among my friends, and also to make new friends in the process. Like just this past week or so, I found out that Vivi from KDrama Fighting! is friends with half a dozen of my real life friends. So anyway, a whole bunch of us met for lunch at one of our favourite Korean restaurants in town.
We had a lovely few hours chatting about who each person was, and then chatting about which drama's we're all watching. We also mentioned who blogs where etc. I also got everyone's permission to post the picture and blog links to everyone's blog. (Not everyone blogs about K-drama, but they might in future...so I didn't put their names up...friends if you want your name up...just let me know and I can add it). I added both pics...I hope you don't mind friends ^^
Vivi from KDrama Fighting! came and it turns out she knows MarlubsGD and that once upon a time in Vivi's new K-drama watching phase, that she recommended some dramas. Funny story, MarlubsGD loves Vivi's memes etc. and so it's pretty cool when she found out it was Vivi. Vivi does make amazing memes. One of my favourites (and MarlubsGD's and lizabreff's as well) is the "Are you a K-drama lead in disguise?" meme. You should check it out! MarlubsGD has recently joined the blogging world and writes excellent and hysterical posts. Her blog is Liking Necks Doesn't Make Me a Vampire, and is guaranteed to make you laugh. She (and Aaron Yan) helped me realize how hotte necks can be. Who would have thought, right?! If you need to know more about liking hotte necks, she has her Top 10 Sexy Necks page. MarlubsGD is also one of my friends that road-tripped with lizabreff and me to the BIGBANG "Still Alive" concert. Oh those were such excellently good times! And of course we had our lovely blogger Deeno from Mad Dino Asylum. While she's been on a blogging hiatus, there are still so many excellent posts of hers to feast on, I would most highly recommend checking her blog out. It turns out that her Fashion King posts helped save Vivi from watching it. See, it was so much fun bonding at lunch today. She has also watched an incredible amount of drama, here is an end of year review post to prove it. Another blogger in our midst is K-What?!. She is actually the person who got me into watching K-drama. Our shared love of Bollywood helped us become friends and then she recommended My Name is Kim Samsoon to me and the rest is history. My buddies and officemates lizabreff and bilikinbear (who you might have seen commenting on posts and who is coming to KCON this year with me) were also there, as well as another friend who loves Asian dramas and music. So yeah, it was good, good times and we shall most definitely have to do this again. So yeah, you should check out all their blogs (if you don't already know them). And hopefully I will get to meet some other K-drama (and K-pop) lovers for those of you going to KCON this year! Here's to meeting old friends and new.
