Making Headers Is Addictive

So lately I finally buckled down to work on making some headers for the blog. Needless to say, it has become rather addictive and I keep on making more. They're just so fun to make and it gives me yet another creative outlet. I've been using GIMP, sort of like the free version of Photoshop.

As I am going to have to figure out how to edit the template HTML (because adding a widget resulted in a double row of headers and the header element is static i.e. I can't remove it) before I can make them into rotating headers, I figured I would show off a little. So bear with my bragging friends. I'll try and switch out the headers though every now and then as well.

  1. Tee hee. You header-making fiend, you..! ;D Fab start, for a GIMP newbie! :D And, I did warn that this header-making business is highly addictive! The last time I decided to make a single Kim Soo Hyun header to unwind after a long day, it resulted in a header-making spurt that lasted days. DAYS, I tell ya! For a while there, there was no drama on my screen; only GIMP. HAHA! XD

  2. These are super duper good. I make a lot of headers, but my level if difficulty remains very low. I can't layer very well, so I don't even try. Congrats!

  3. Aw thanks Jomo! It's really just been a matter of trial and error and trying to figure things out. That and watching and reading a tonne of tutorials! ^^

  6. D'aw. I wasn't that much help at all, you figured out almost everything on your own! ^^

  7. Of course you helped! You told me about GIMP, gave me encouragement, inspired me and helped answer some of my questions! ❤

  8. Well, when you put it THAT way.. you should totally send me a box of love - & some Woobie smooches too, while you're at it! ;D I kid, I kid. Though I am admittedly caught up at the thought of Woobie smooches *cough*

  9. Lol! You make me laugh! What about if a make a Woobie banner in honour of you...that way when you come to the blog and see it, you can know it was made just for you! And consider that the box of love has been sent.

  10. Ooh.. You KNOW I can't say no to more Woobie eye candy..! ;D And, box of love happily received, YAY! *burrows*

Also. It occurs to me that for quite a while, DB didn't actually have rotating headers like they do now. For some time, it was simply a different header for each day. If you find figuring out code for rotating headers too much hassle, you could totally consider that. Pick a header-of-the-day every morning/evening. I rather like the idea myself and occasionally consider it. But then, I might end up having only Woobie banners up, so.. maybe rotating ones work best - for the benefit of everyone who stops by, lol ^.~

  11. Lol! Woobie is never a bad thing ;) I have thought about the option of just picking a daily header...and I've sort of being doing that. I kind of want rotating ones though...but it would mean editing the html in the template...and I don't know how/where to do that. So I might enlist some help. We'll have to see. I did make a header widget...but because the Blogger template for the header is non-removable, it just meant that I had a double row of headers...so yeah. Oh well. ^^

  12. Wooo.. way outta my league there! >.< All I can say is.. Have you ever considered moving to WordPress? Where rotating headers are just a click of a button away.. :P

  13. True.. there're pros and cons to both WP and Blogger.. And I can totally understand your reluctance to move now that you've established so many things in Blogger. I guess wrestling with that rotating header code will just hafta be the way forward then! Dewaani FIGHTINGGG! ^^

  14. Haha. Thank you ^^ Luckily there are people out there who know how to do it, so I can just ask them.

  15. You've inspired me...I think I'm gonna go make some new headers now for my blog as well. Oh, and I love the one with Choi Jin Hyuk, and the fourth one from bottom.

  16. Haha! I'm glad I've inspired you ^^ Oh CJH, he is so beautiful! And the fourth from the bottom, KSH reading a newspaper? ^^

  17. Haha. I actually really don't like blogging in WP. I tried it years ago with another blog, and it was just really clunky. I am sure it would be different now that I'm a more experienced blogger and feel more comfortable with stuff, but bustered and I talked for a long time about it, and felt we just wanted to stick with Blogger. I also don't want to lose our hits count, and all the work I've done with coding and widgets etc. I've put so much into building all of this...that I find it hard to leave. It would mean starting over in many ways. Plus, with DMCA stuff, WP shuts your blog down whereas Blogger will just take that post down until you fix it. That said, it is still a thought somewhere at the back of my mind ;)
